Western Slope Cowboy Gathering

Nov 6-7, 2026

The Western Slope Cowboy Gathering was initiated in 2015 by Terry Nash, Peggy Malone, and Nona Kelley Carver for the celebration and sharing of modern and classic cowboy poetry and music. Now hosted by KAFM Community Radio, the gathering celebrates its 11th year with a wide range of top local and national cowboy poets and western singers. The Gathering presents two days and nights of good family fun, featuring great cowboy entertainment.

Cowboy poetry grew from a time when, after a day of work, cowboys would gather around the campfire to occupy and entertain one another with tall tales and folk songs. This form of poetry grew out of a tradition of extemporaneous composition carried on by workers on cattle drives and ranches.

Daytime performances are free; evening performances are ticketed ($20 each evening; $30 for a 2-day pass).
