Johnathon Baker

Leather artisan
work by Jonathon Baker

Johnathon Baker is a thoughtful, creative, versatile leather artisan with a strong attention to detail and an artist's eye for pattern drawing and color. A skilled teacher, he offers private and group classes in the SW Oklahoma/North Texas area, and is open to scheduling classes if you have a venue. He creates wall art, as well as book covers, padfolios, belts, and wallets, using multiple styles of floral carving, figure carving, embossing, and pictorial elements.

Johnathon began tooling and carving about five years ago, after receiving a basketweave headstall as a gift and thinking "I could do that." His work is inspired by his mentor, Jim Linnell of Elktracks Studio, as well as the work of Ray Pohja, Al Stohlman, and Jesse Smith.

  • Floral patterns are available in his Etsy shop.
  • Wall art pieces shown here may be available for sale.
